Velociraptor
Textured velociraptor seen from the front left, mouth open, against a black backdrop.
A low-poly velociraptor built for augmented reality. Sculpted in ZBrush, retopologised and unwrapped in Maya, with the detail baked down into normal and specular maps so the silhouette survives at a game-ready polygon count.
Three-quarter view of the raptor from the right, showing the full length of the tail.
Top-down view of the raptor, showing how the body and tail read in plan.
Front three-quarter view with the head raised and the jaw open.
The same pose with the wireframe overlaid, showing the edge flow across the body, limbs and tail.
The low-poly cage. Edges are concentrated where the animal deforms — jaw, neck, hips and the base of the tail — and stripped back everywhere else.
Side view of the textured model against black.
The raptor displayed with a normal-map shader, rendering the whole animal in violet-blue.
Normal pass. All the skin detail sculpted in ZBrush now lives in a texture rather than in geometry.
Untextured grey clay render of the raptor, showing the sculpted surface on its own.
Unwrapped colour texture map for the raptor, with scale and skin shells laid out across the sheet.
The unwrapped texture sheet: colour, normal and specular, all packed into a single UV layout.
Normal map for the raptor, showing the sculpted scale and wrinkle detail in blue and violet.
Specular map for the raptor in greyscale, controlling where the skin catches the light.
