Unscripted — Haunted Mansion

Environments
Front elevation of the haunted mansion attraction: a derelict two-storey house with a ticket booth, an iron fence, gravestones and a bare dead tree.
Built for a scene in Unscripted where a couple wander through a fairground haunted house. The art director handed over a quick sketch and a handful of references, and the model was developed from there — modelled and unwrapped in Maya, sculpted detail in ZBrush, textured in Substance Painter and rendered in Marmoset Toolbag 4.
Three-quarter view of the mansion with the dead tree in the foreground and a red TERROR TIME sign on the side wall.
Rear three-quarter view showing the painted skull mural that covers the side of the building.
The same three-quarter view with the wireframe overlaid across the building, fence and tree.
The back of the attraction, its wall covered by a large HAUNTED MANSION mural in green lettering.
The back of the building. Below it sits another attraction — the shooting gallery.
Ambient occlusion and wireframe pass of the whole set, rendered in white.
AO and wireframe pass. Stripped of colour, this is where the silhouette and the edge flow have to hold up on their own.

Four variations of the dead tree asset lined up against a dark backdrop.
The dead tree. The goal here was deliberately not photoreal — something hand-sculpted, with a plastic finish that reads as artificial, a fairground prop rather than a real tree. Sculpting and texturing this was the part I enjoyed most.

Reference board: photographs of real fairground haunted houses beside a rough 3D block-out annotated in red with tiled roof, balcony, curtains, dead tree, grave and queue gate.
The starting point: the art director's block-out annotated in red, next to the reference photographs it came from. Everything above grew out of this one board.
