Ethicon Enseal X1

Environments
Title card for the VR experience: the Enseal X1 showroom seen from above, with display screens around a central plinth and the words ETHICON ENSEAL X1 VR EXPERIENCE over it.
A virtual showroom and training room built for the launch of the Ethicon Enseal X1 surgical instrument, running on Oculus Quest. Gynaecologists could walk the whole platform together in real time. My part was the low-poly modelling and texturing of the instrument and of the uterus environment, plus scene materials, lighting and baked lightmaps in Unity.
Text slide describing the virtual experience, its audience of gynaecologists and its three levels, over a dimmed view of the showroom.
Full walkthrough
Text slide listing the software used and the specific tasks carried out on the project.
The platform is split into three levels: the product showroom with video screens and a conference room for live talks, the surgery room where the instrument can be picked up and used, and the uterus scenario where the surgeon makes cuts and the instrument explains itself as they go.

Diffuse, specular and ambient occlusion maps for the Enseal X1, laid out side by side.
Texture set for the instrument. Everything was authored in Substance Painter and kept low-poly, since it had to hold up at arm’s length on a standalone headset.
Text slide headed UTERUS — PROCESS AND TOOLS, explaining how the organ was modelled and textured.
Uterus with ligaments
Grid of the tiling textures used on the organ: colour variations of tissue on top, their matching normal maps below.
The organic surfaces are tiling textures generated in Filter Forge — skin, veins, fatty tissue and ovary — then loaded into Substance Painter, where the maps were combined and finished by hand.
Final uterus texture set: diffuse, normal and ambient occlusion maps.
Closing card reading THANKS! over a faded view of the environment.
